On the side, I enjoy lending my creativity to dance choreography. With three years of ballroom training, I recently had the privilege of choreographing and teaching the first dance for my good friend Peter Schmidt and his lovely bride, Rose Schmidt, with the help of my friend Audrey Aschoff.
My creative process began by listening closely to the lyrics of their chosen song. I then applied various bronze-level dance moves, such as promenades, butterflies, and basic turns, to complement the music. The result is a coherent and beautiful narrative that matches the lyrics with the movements. For example:
"I'll be your shade tree in summer" - Progressive sweetheart position
"If you'll be my fire when it's cold" - An embrace
"Cause we'll have each other to hold" - A lift and carry
The dance was a hit with the couple and their guests, and it was a truly rewarding experience working with such a wonderful pair. I'm proud of the beautiful dance we created together.
