Artist Statement
I detect in society a certain disdain for medieval art and vintage technology, but this is a mistaken position to take. For if we stand on the shoulders of giants, then the giants whose shoulders we stand on carry with them a wealth of wisdom, waiting to be assimilated and incorporated into the modern era. With each project I work on, I assimilate what I have learned from past projects and incorporate this experience into my new work. I “draw from the giant’s wisdom”, if you will. It may be asked to what end I do this. In addition to my design work, I create arts fueled by my passion for my Catholic faith and for other lesser interests.

The end of my religious art is to praise and express my thoughts to Almighty God through beauty. Growing up Catholic, I have many fond memories spanning from my childhood to the present regarding art raising my mind to prayer. Principally, beautiful art reminds me that God Himself is beauty. To create such art, I draw on the genius of all eras of Christian art, especially the medieval's typefaces and color choices.

Additional works are often the culmination of my conscious and subconscious, to simply express my thoughts or to just make something that is unique. The giants I stand on in this case are many, the biggest of which would be video games, vintage technology, pattern, and classical art. When it can be done without sacrilege, I will at times mix religious influences in with my secular art. These categories all come together to create pieces that are ominous, happy, realistic, or all of the above.
