This was a full-site rebuild for Tri-State Truck & Equipment, completed in 2023 while I was working as a UI/UX designer at Sandhills Global. The client — a long-standing dealership with locations across Montana and Wyoming — needed a refreshed online presence that matched the strength of their legacy and made inventory and service access more intuitive for their customers.
Though the site runs on WordPress, I used only the bare theme skeleton. Nearly all of the design and front-end development was custom-built with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript — giving me full control over the layout, responsiveness, and performance.
Site Overhall with a Custom Wordpress Theme
The original site was visually flat and slow to navigate, especially on mobile. I rebuilt the front end almost entirely from scratch in VS Code, developing every section — from the homepage slider and modular inventory blocks to the button styling and layout rhythm — to meet Tri-State’s needs and brand voice.
Clear Visual Hierarchy & CTAs
I started the design process in Figma, mapping out a clean, high-contrast layout with strong CTAs for Inventory, Rentals, Parts, and Service. The updated homepage guides users quickly toward high-value actions, while simplifying the surrounding structure. I also moved secondary links like the Employee Login to the footer for a more streamlined top nav.
Grid Use for Inventory Layouts
Inventory listings (like the Volvo Construction Equipment pages) use a clean, custom grid system. Equipment cards are easy to scan, filterable, and responsive — crucial for customers browsing from job sites or shop floors. The layout adapts to volume without ever feeling heavy.
Client-Focused Details
Rounded buttons, black-and-blue contrast, and modular spacing were all tailored to the client’s preferences. Even with WordPress under the hood, the result is a fast, modern site that looks sharp, works smoothly, and remains easy to manage on the admin side.
