For my junior year painting class, I was called upon to create a painting in which we demonstrated our knowledge of the property of viscosity (e.g. the thickness in paint) to create texture. I thought that this would be a great opportunity to capture stained glass in a painting.

I travelled around Wayne's various sites, including the two local Lutheran communities, the Presbyterian community, and the Catholic church (unfortunately I was unable to use the stained glass from here given its rather simplistic nature, which looked out of place amongst the other stained glass). Below you can see the various shots that the painting was based upon.
The painting itself was painted in a rather quick manner, as I was crunched for time. This helped tremendously in making the painting viscous; there were times when I threw aside the paint brush and just began squeezing paint out of the bottle directly to the canvas! You can imagine that it took quite some time to dry, but to this day, it remains one of my greatest works.
